ArrrrrOOOOO!!!!

Well, I made it home in good fashion; the week went too quickly. Sally and I had a great time visiting with an ol' legend in our sport and running our dogs with his. Georgia is a big, beautiful, wild place to run dogs (full of deer, too, which we didn't want the rabbit dogs getting onto) but thankfully we didn't have any deer chases. My 11-year-old mama dog was glad to get back in the briars, and her pups were happy to get a sight chase in "Daddy Rabbit's" puppy pen to help them get started. Pics and videos:

…and here's a video (not a very good one – I was too busy visiting to film) of the above pups sight-chasing a rabbit in Daddy Rabbit's training pen.

But the best part of the trip was watching ol' Dolly in her element. She's lost a step or two, but she was still able to keep up and overtake the others at times. Daddy Rabbit called her a "huntin' machine", and he is right. Those tenacious Georgia briars didn't phase her one bit:

So then…that's all I can handle tonight. Back to work tomorrow as usual and I'm not even unpacked, but I will try and get caught up on the neighborhood, the QotDs and Searches, reading Sylph's wonderful Passions updates, and if I think of anything from the trip y'all might really get some good out of I will post it later. *smiles and hugs to everyone*

QotD: Calm Yourself

How do you keep calm?
Submitted by L33tchica.

Mostly, I just plot my revenge…

No, I'm kidding. I generally stay calm – even through traumatic stuff. When I'm really upset, though, I try to divert my thoughts to something else until such time I can actually do something about what's making me upset. I put it on the backburner until then.

Vox Hunt: My Karaoke Jam

Audio: Share your karaoke song.

Okay, again, there's more than one, but the 3 I'm most known for singing (because nobody else ever sings them) are these – listed in order of "personal notoriety" (or requests from my Karaoke Junkie friends, whom I haven't seen in about 10 years):

First one is the original MTV video. If anyone is even remotely curious as to what my natural singing voice is, this is it…LOL. Chrissie Hynde. DJs used to tape a portion of my performing the song, then they would play back the original and the taping, and make people guess who was who. Nobody ever did this song. While on an average night at the Bombay Bicycle Club 19 different people were belting out their own rendition of "Crazy" by Patsy Cline, I was making people scratch their heads in silence over this one:

Back On the Chain Gang – The Pretenders

…and then I did this one a LOT:

…and finally this one – this is a tough one to do. All my gay male friends loved it, heee!:

Okay, I gotta get my ass to bed now. Gotta big trip tomorrow.

Vox Hunt: Makes Me Want To Cut A Rug

Video: Show us a video that makes you want to dance.

Okay, y'al know me and music by now…and that fact that's it's very diffucult for me to choose just one favorite on anything in these questions – there's just too much talent out there to enjoy. In anyhoot, I have posted 3 that immediately came to mind. If the video isn't jig-inspired, the music definitely is, and if you can sit through these and not at least tap a toe, then you have no primal beat within your entire being….lol:

Modern Love – David Bowie

Love Is a Battlefield – Pat Benetar (love the pimp with the gold tooth in this one – love the "girl power" at the end, too)

Cradle of Love – Billy Idol ("play this tape"…lol) Billy Idol might possibly be my favorite male vocalist – extremely diverse range – from screeching to low and sexy, and everything in between.

…and of course, anything from Madonna's Confessions On a Dance Floor…

…And this one, a video using a Madonna song that I made from some rather crude video captures (back before anyone had a decent video capture card) for my fellow Passions friends:

Got to have music – got to dance!

Vox Hunt: Listen to the Lyrics

Audio: Share a song with powerful lyrics.

This might be a little "hard-rockish" for some of you, but if the lyrics interest you, try to sit thru it – the delivery is perfect:

"My Last Breath"

hold on to me love
you know i can't stay long
all i wanted to say was i love you and i'm not afraid
can you hear me?
can you feel me in your arms?

holding my last breath
safe inside myself
are all my thoughts of you
sweet raptured light it ends here tonight

i'll miss the winter
a world of fragile things
look for me in the white forest
hiding in a hollow tree
(come find me)
i know you hear me
i can taste it in your tears

holding my last breath
safe inside myself
are all my thoughts of you
sweet raptured light it ends here tonight

closing your eyes to disappear
you pray your dreams will leave you here
but still you wake and know the truth
no one's there

say goodnight
don't be afraid
calling me calling me as you fade to black

holding my last breath
safe inside myself
are all my thoughts of you
sweet raptured light it ends here tonight

Neglectful me…

I have been neglecting my Vox neighbors and such recently…I'm getting ready to take a real vacation away from home. I'm packing up all my dogs and heading to Georgia with a beagling buddy. I will pick her up in Kentucky tomorrow and away we will go, to run dogs and visit with the Deep South beaglers. Y'all know how I despise and fear interstate driving – at least before I actually go, well I get to leave Indy with it snowing. Another time I would have said "no way, I'll wait."  Piss on it. I need this trip. I'm going. I will have my laptop with me, but I may be having TOO MUCH DAMN FUN to break it out for anything other than e-mails……..(lol).

I'll try to post again tonight after I know I'm all packed and ready, but if I don't, I'm sending you all goodbye hugs now, and I will save some for "glad to be back" hugs.

QotD: Can’t Do Without…

What food item would you miss the most if it were removed from your diet and recipes?
Submitted by scorpion1116.

Cheese…without a doubt. Cheese makes everything better, and I've never met a cheese I didn't like, or that came in so many different varieties – from grated parmesan to the hard cheeses to cottage cheese. I can eat cheese by itself, or as an ingredient. Can't say that about a lot of foods. One of my favorites dishes is burnt butter spaghetti with nothing on it but finely grated mizithra cheese. The Old Spaghetti Factory offers this dish.

Vox Hunt: I Love This Cover

Show us your favorite album cover.

Actually, these are mine. I make my own CD covers for my homemade mixed CDs. I did have some OLD real album covers – one of my favorites being a Janis Joplin cover, but finding my own umbilical cord would be easier.
